The Trevi Fountain in Rome is one of the most beautiful and interesting places I have ever seen in my life. There is no doubt that the fountain is world famous and many people: tourists and local people come here every day and night to enjoy it. This fountain is the largest (about 25 m high and 20 m wide) of the Baroque fountains in Rome. Situated between palaces of the historic center of the city the fountain is a masterpiece of architecture.

The name of the fountain is closely linked with its location. It is located at the intersection of “tre vie” meaning three roads. Standing at the end of the Aqua Virgo, one of the ancient Roman aqueducts, the spectacular fountain attracts hundreds of people from all over the world.

The imposant figure of the sea god Neptune riding a chariot in the form of shell is in the center of the fountain. On both sides of the statue there is one sea horse guided by a Triton. The statues of Abundance, Salubrity and Agrippa are very interesting and beautiful. Bas-reliefs contribute to the beauty of the whole architectural ensambe.

If you throw a coin into the Trevi Fountain you will certainly come here back at any rime. The local guide told me that according to the legend “three coins” should be thrown in the basin of the fountain. The most important thing is the following: You should toss the coins over your shoulder with your back to the fountain without saying where the coins fall in the basin. I did not believe her. But I saw that many tourists from all over the world tossed a coin into the watery. And, of course, I did the same. According to the Roman custom doing this is for good luck and my next coming to Rome. I did this because Rome is splendid, glamorous and proud in its richness and beauty and because I want to come here one day again. What was my surprise that on the next day I came here back although I had not planned to do this. The second coin was for a new romance and now two months later the new romance in my life is a fact. What about the third coin?! It was for marriage or divorce. I still wait for the first one and when it happens I will be very happy.

Sometimes I think about these coins that I threw in the fountain. It could be true or not. It could be only the people`s imagination. But I think that it was good that I did this because hopefully they can help for subsidizing important things in Rome.

No one visit in Rome will be complete if the tourists have not visited the magnificent Trevi Fountain!
