You may be planning a holiday soon and looking for somewhere in Spain to spend a week in the sun, but you are not sure exactly what part of Spain to head for. Below 5 quick thoughts regards where in Spain to go.
1. Ibiza is an island just off of the North East coast of Spain and it is a beautiful island and is famed for the drink and nightclub culture which attracts a large number of young travellers and holiday makers. If you are looking for a holiday to go clubbing then Ibiza might be the place to go. If you are a party animal then why not try Ibiza.
2. Barcelona has a number of things to offer and to a greater range of people than most places in Spain. Whatever age you are or interests you have, there is something in Barcelona for you to do and see. If you are young there is a very lively bar and nightclub scene down on the waterfront in the evenings. If you are interested in culture Barcelona has dozens of good museums and Gaudi architectural attractions to visit. If you like beach life there is Barcelona beach front and Sitges. If you love sport there are numerous sporting events to try including water-sports, gold and the Nou Camp tour and a live game. If you are interested in shopping there are some great shops, including the massive El Corte department store.
3. Alicante is also an interesting place to hang out for a week ,with Alicante quitier and smaller than Barcelona but quite quaint and a bit cheaper to spend time in. There is more of a community and local atmosphere in Alicante. Alicante is also well served by budget airlines and its own airport. The marina is also nice and the weather tends often to be very pleasant this far south in Spain.
4. Santander is not everyone’s first thought when thinking of a place to stay in Spain, particularly with its location on the Northern coast of Spain. Santander though is served with a ferry from the UK leaving from Plymouth, Devon and Santander offers the chance for you to see a different part of Spain culturally.
5. Madrid is an interesting city and as the capital of Spain, there is always a lot going on and plenty to do. There are some wonderful galleries and museums and there can be no better place to try Spanish food than in the capital.

Has the current economic crisis put a damper on you wallet but not your urge to travel? There are options out there, whether your tastes lean to Bed and Breakfasts or a reasonably priced 1-2 star hotel. The fact that Italy has catered to tourists so consistently and for so long means that, in addition to villa style holiday homes and decadently expensive luxury hotels, there are a wide range of budget accommodations in Italy. This is good news to the ever-increasing number of people that want to watch what they are spending while still caving into their sense of wanderlust.
Whether you want to attend Carnivale, pose as a statue and pigeon roost in St. Marks Square or glide through the canals driven by a striped-shirted gondolier, the marvels of Venice will leave you breathless, inspiring your romantic mood to live a perfect vacation with your soul mate. Cheap accommodations in Venice can be found and will allow you to spend more of your money in many of the fabulous restaurants that the city boosts or in one of the famous craftsman’s ateliers. You can also visit the beautiful island of Merano, with its typical coloured blown glasses. Vacationing in one of the most romantic cities in the world will be unforgettable and knowing that you have managed to find cheap accommodations in the “City of Bridges†known as Venice can only enhance that experience.
If you are more focused on fashion than on romance and are heading to vibrant, pulsing Milan you can make sure to save a few euro extra for all of the irresistible Italian fashion by finding a budget hotel in Milan. In a city with as much nightlife, as much fabulous design and as many beautiful people as you are going to find in Milan you will want to be in your hotel as little as possible. This makes it a great city in which to use a 1 or 2 star hotel and in a city as large as Milan you can find budget hotels in almost every quarter of the city. So if your interests are pure fashion and purses (borsa) are what you want to spend your money on the current stock market (Borsa) situation should not stop you from visiting the capital of fashion.
If your hedonism leans in the same way as Rossini’s and soaking up the Tuscan sun while savoring DOCG Chianti is a scene that inspires you to hop on a plane the tranquil town of Siena should be a Siren to you. Calling, calling and drawing you to partake in luscious wines and all the fantastic food that one of the most popular agritourism destinations has to offer. If you are not traveling during the twice annual festival of Palio then finding a hotel in Italy’s peaceful town of Siena should be as relaxing an experience as indulging in every manipulation of the Sangiovese grape that distinguishes the region. Whether you select a Bed and Breakfast or a hotel budget accommodations in Italy still reflect the hospitality that the country is known for.
