Italy is undoubtedly one of the most popular tourist spots in the world. But since the country is so rich in culture, history and architecture, most people do not mention Italy when it comes to beach holidays, forgetting the fact that the country also has some of the best beaches in the world. In fact, the capital city of Venice was developed as a beach resort in old times and till date, some of the most popular and well developed beaches in Italy can be found in the Veneto region.
The Venetian region boasts of a 200 kilometer long coastline with a large number of gold and fine white sand beaches along the Adriatic coast. The most popular Adriatic beachside resort in Veneto is the Lido de Jesolo or the beach at Jesolo, which has been favored by the jet set ever since its inception and development. In fact, if you are a beach person, then you can book your vacation accommodation in Jesolo and visit the cities of Venice and Verona during the day while staying at Jesolo. Both these cities are a short distance away and you can enjoy their rich historical heritage during the day and spend your nights at the various restaurants and night clubs on the beach at Jesolo.
Unlike a number of Italian beaches that are choc-a-block full of tourists, you will be able to find a place on the beaches at Jesolo since most resorts own their own portions of the beach and it is because of this reason that the beaches at Jesolo are very neat and clean. Eating establishments line these beaches and if you are traveling with your children, then they will definitely enjoy having pizzas and ice creams right on the beach. Jesolo has a busy and bustling nightlife, and it is advised that you pack your party dresses and shoes in order to visit the classy and expensive night clubs here. If you are traveling with kids, then you can entertain yourself through the various traditional and cultural shows that are put up by resorts and local tourism development organizations.
Jesolo is extremely romantic and is a perfect honeymoon destination. You can take romantic gondola rides and moonlit strolls among the piazzas or along the shore with your partner. The shopping scene is quite happening and you can find almost all famous design houses rubbing shoulders on the high streets. Last but not the least, the food is simply amazing and you can find good food every where ranging from small roadside stalls to classy restaurants, so do not plan to diet when you visit this portion of the world.
One thing that you must keep in mind however before landing in Jesolo is getting your vacation shelter booked in advance. This is important because the beach resorts in Italy are extremely popular with European tourists and getting your holiday reservations done in advance may save you from a lot of hassle once you land here. You can easily book your accommodation in one of the many resorts on the Adriatic coast or in Jesolo simply by logging on to a website that deals with making vacation bookings in Italy.
A guide to beach destinations in France – Part 1

Beach holidays are always popular and the beaches I would recommend in France are those that lie around the coastal region of Brittany.
The diversity of what they offer is what prompts me to recommend these beaches, which range from wild and rocky, for those lovers of nature and tranquility, to sunny and sandy beaches that offer not only good sunbathing, but also extremely good centers for those holiday makers looking for facilities nearby that are tempting.
Carnac beach is a sandy beach to the South of Brittany, and as well as offering great expanses of sand, relatively safe bathing and warm climate, Carnac also has excursions for those that prefer to be away from the beach, in that the standing stones at Carnac are close-by, so that holiday makers can safety split up and meet later for drinks or eating in the many restaurants along the beach area.
France is literally surrounded in three sides by water, from the English Channel, to the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, giving wide choice to those seeking beaches. On the northern coast of Brittany, the beaches resemble English beaches and are a combination of sandy beaches and rocky ones, though taking the road from St Brieuc towards Mont St Michel and instead of using the main highways, taking the back-roads along the coastal region, the holiday maker will be surprised at the discovery of the many beach options available, and that they are semi protected from cross winds, giving ideal bathing conditions.
La Roche Bernard in the southern region offers beaches that are relatively protected as well, and taking boat trips to the islands off the coastline of Brittany, beaches can be found on the Isle de Batz from Roscoff, and also in Southern Brittany at Belle Ile.
Inland doesn’t exclude beaches either since many have been constructed in lake areas, and these offer safe alternatives to sea water, shallow slopes and water sports for those seeking beaches inland.
Looking further in France.
The South of France is extremely warm, and for those searching for beaches in the South of France, the French Riviera offers exclusivity, class and style, though at a price. Here is probably not the best area for family holidays, though for those seeking style and panache, the South of France offers that in the St Tropez area, at Bouillabaisse, Graniers and Port Grimaud.
From the Camargue to the Cote Vermeille
This area offers beaches that are quality, but also more realistic accommodation prices and the white sands stretch for more than 150 miles along the edge of the Mediterranean. For those that want to travel a little further into France, these beaches offer variety, water sports, family friendly bathing and catering facilities and certainly are amongst the best that France has to offer.
Choosing a favorite area, it would be difficult to choose between the coastline in Brittany and the Camargue, the Brittany coastline being so diverse and offering more than just sand, sea and sunshine, and the Camargue beaches warmer and easier for a Summer tan.
France is a wonderful country to live in, and gives much choice to the tourist and resident alike in what it offers, though mapping out your route and deciding what your priorities are will send you in the direction that will make your holiday a success.
