Situated in the southern part of France and located on the Mediterranean coast, between Marseille (France) and Genoa (Italy) Nice is a simple and at the same time very elegant city. It is often called “the city of art and culture”.
This major tourist center and a leading resort on the French Riviera attracts many tourists every year because of its beautiful beaches, lovely seaside promenade des Anglais (”Walk of the English”), interesting museums and monuments, the world famous flower market, shops and hotels. Many wonderful bars, night clubs and restaurants are on display of the tourists and local residents. During my stay here I liked the salade nicoise very much. It is a tomato salad with green peppers of the “Corne”breed, eggs, tuna and olives. It is very tasteful.
An interesting fact is that here one can find different kinds of hotels-from the economy hotels to the first-class international hotels. Most of the tourists prefer staying in the old town of Nice. Streets with interesting shops are located near the French seaside and in the old city.
A favourite attraction for the tourists is walking on the Promenade des Anglais and spending their time relaxing, talking, enjoying the fresh Meditteranean climate and beautiful palms.
It were the English who started in the second half of the eighteenth century to spend their time in winter and enjoy the panorama along the coast. The first name of the promanade was”English way” and after the French translation it got today`s name.
There are many museums and monuments in the city-Musee Massena, Musee d`Art Moderne, Musee des Beaux-Arts, Musee d`Histoire Naturelle, Musee Matisse, Musee Chaqall, Musee Picasso. I liked Palais Massena-the Museum of History very much. It houses fascinating private collections closely linked to the Nice`s past. Garibaldi`s death sheet, Asian jewelry, extraordinary notebook sketches of Napoleon and other interesting things could be seen here.
What I found very interesting and relaxing is visiting the flower market. Each day on the Cours Soleya there is the great flower market where one can also find beautiful flowers, fruit and vegetables in the morning.
It is a very good idea to have a look around Nice. Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy visiting the towns of Canne, Monte Carlo, Monaco or the seaside town of Antibes.
